Jan van de Meer, Gartenbau Van de Meer
In 1989 Werner van de Meer and his wife Hannemie took over his parents’ horticultural business, which had been in the family for over 3 decades.
The modern horticultural business is specialized in potted plants for every season. At the location in Kevelaer on the left side of the Lower Rhine, one of the largest growing areas in Germany, the company is able to offer its products in large quantities all year round on approx. 55,000 sqm land under glass and approx. 25 ha of open land.
The nearly 30 employees and up to 25 seasonal workers ensure the highest standards of quality, assortment and organization.
After Van de Meer had already successfully integrated the Mayer bale breaker BZ 6160 and Mayer conveyor belts into its operations, it was now decided to switch to the Mayer brand for the potting machine as well.
In September of this year the time had come and the team from the Mayer Customer Center West installed the new Mayer potting machine TM 2700XL on site at Van de Meer.
Mayer also makes it possible to implement individual customer wishes and requirements with regard to the machines and any extra functions required.
In this case, the potting magazine was equipped with rollers and a rail. This makes it easier to adjust the pots in the magazine.
Furthermore, a special transfer with four pots and a soil scraper was attached to the pot holder. In this way the redundant soil does not get onto the belt and remains in the potting machine.
In addition, a fertilizer dosage unit was installed in order to better mix the added fertilizer in the soil.
With the Mayer TM 2700XL, up to 10,000 pots per hour can be separated, filled and watered. Finally, the pots are transported to the tables with a pneumatic transfer and belts.
The entire process is fully automatic and can be controlled and monitored by one person.
