The Jiangsu Turui Ecological Agriculture Technology Co. Ltd. horticulture company is located in Shuyang in the province of Jiangsu in eastern China. Since its foundation in 2014, the company has grown steadily and has specialized in the production of succulents. On a total area of 73 hectares, the company produces over 12 million plants per year with a total of 500 employees. As a result of rising labour costs, the demand for standardized production and consistently high production quality, the company was looking for an automation solution that could meet these requirements. After a six-month decision making process, the choice fell on a production line from Mayer. As the company grows its own plants, a solution for the filling of cultivation trays was required in addition to automated pot filling.
Modular Solution for flexible Requirements
The production line starts with the Mayer BZ 6160 bale breaker, which loosens up the big bale in a structure-friendly manner and transfers it to the soil hopper of the mixer as required. In the Mayer soil mixer EM 6012, the substrate is enriched with fertiliser additives. In the third step, the Mayer potting machine TM 1010F separates and fills up to 4,000 pots per hour and with the aid of an additional fertilizer dispenser, enriches them with a fertilizer additive. A conveyor belt on the turntable of the TM 1010F transports the pots to the planting station where the succulents are inserted into the pots by hand. Alternatively, the production line can be adapted quickly by exchanging our potting machine TM 1010F with our tray filler “special” for filling of cultivation trays. The entire process is fully automatic and can be controlled and monitored by one person.
